It was a 21st birthday present from his late father, and he's worn it pretty much every day since he got it. A couple of months ago, he lost it. It was winter, it was cold, your fingers shrink in the cold, and by the time he noticed it was missing, he'd been all over the place, so it could have been anywhere. It was searched for high and low and eventually dad was resigned to the fact it was probably gone. Last Friday he was cleaning the kitchen, and because the toaster hadn't had a proper clean in God knows how long, he took out the crumb tray and cleaned it. Then it occurred to him that there were probably still lots of crumbs stuck inside, so he tipped it upside down over the sink and out tumbled the crumbs....and one signet ring!
