stainless steel o rings

    stainless steel
  • steel containing chromium that makes it resistant to corrosion

  • In metallurgy stainless steel, also known as inox steel or inox from French "inoxydable", is defined as a steel alloy with a minimum of 10.5 or 11% chromium content by mass. Stainless steel does not stain, corrode, or rust as easily as ordinary steel, but it is not stain-proof.

  • A form of steel containing chromium, resistant to tarnishing and rust

  • (Stainless steels) Steels that are corrosion and heat resistant and contain a minimum of 10% to 12% chromium. Other alloying elements are often present.

    o rings
  • are generally used as dynamic seals for shafts and are available in many different sizes and materials.

  • A gasket in the form of a ring with a circular cross section, typically made of pliable material, used to seal connections in pipes, tubes, etc

  • A small plastic piece, shaped like a donut, which is used to hold the arch wires in the brackets on your teeth.

  • An O-ring, also known as a packing, or a toric joint, is a mechanical gasket in the shape of a torus; it is a loop of elastomer with a disc-shaped cross-section, designed to be seated in a groove and compressed during assembly between two or more parts, creating a seal at the interface.

Parker 316 Stainless Steel Hex Head Plug with Buna N O-Ring, 1/4

The Parker 316 stainless steel plug has a hexagonal head, straight thread, and an O-ring for a tight seal. The plug has a hexagonal head for increased leverage and use with a wrench and is made of stainless steel 316 which is high-strength and more corrosion resistant than stainless steel 304. It also has straight thread for strength, and an O-ring, for forming a tight seal without deforming the metal.
Pipe fittings are components used for connecting, terminating, controlling flow, and changing the direction of piping in many different industries. When purchasing pipe fittings, consider the application, as this will affect material type, shape, size and required durability. Fittings are available threaded or unthreaded, in many shapes, styles, sizes, and schedules (pipe wall thickness).

C.R.K.T. - G.W. Hawk D.O.G. 4515

C.R.K.T. Grant Hawk D.O.G. “Deadbolt Over Grabstep”

The unique appearance of this knife drew me to it the first time I saw it years ago. The D.O.G. Reminds me a bit of a gun in appearance and construction, it also comes with two sets of scales, both resembling gun grips. The whole knife has an “over-built” feel to it (in a good way). The blade is a massive 4 mm thick (compared to most being around 2 mm). The bolt has a huge silver bushing (black on some models) and the lock release mechanism is remnant of a pistol's magazine release. The blade has a giant hole in lieu of a thumb stud for opening. The locking mechanism is somewhat like that of a traditional lockback folder in function, but with a sliding deadbolt release as opposed to a lever button release. The lock is said to be ambidextrous, and if you aren't gentle, it is. I find it much easier to use my thumb and forefinger, one on either side simultaneously to unlock the blade.

The gear/pocket clip: Although it does give a nice, minimalistic appearance, it lacks greatly in function. It is removable, but can only be changed from left to right handed carry, not to standard (tip down) carry orientation . Which is fine by me, I prefer the tip up carry orientation anyway. The clip is very loose, it rattles back and forth in it's setting. The metal clip is held in to a polymer insert with a screw and rubber o-ring. The screw is just a bit smaller than the hole in which it sets allowing the clip to slide back and forth (the polymer insert is held in place by the screw as well, it slides too). On one hand this makes the knife very easy to clip to your pocket. On the other, it's annoying and seems sloppy to me. I bent the clip on mine ever so slightly making it touch the scales of the knife. It doesn't slide back and forth now, but it's a bit more troublesome to clip to your pocket. The clip would be the one ting I'd scrap on the knife. It looks neat, but it's too small for a knife this size. If it's tight it's hard to get clipped and if it's loose you fear it not holding the knife in you pocket.

The knife originally came in plain and combo-serrated versions. With a knife that looks this mean you almost have to go for the combo edge. Given its size and weight, I'd have to say it's mostly a show knife. Don't get me wrong, I know you could use this thing like crazy, it's definitely high quality. But if you need a fairly large, folding work knife, I'd have to favor the M16 Big Dog for functionality. The D.O.G. is definitely a unique knife though, both in appearance and function.

[ Shameless product plug/thing I like disclaimer ]

Here's a new stainless-steel (and significantly-heavier) upgrade from the previous white rubberized version I had; while I quite enjoyed the first one, the strap was grey and was falling apart around the metal face within a year of purchase. I think that part wasn't terribly well thought-out.

I've always seemed to have a thing for rather-goofy, unique watches. I recently hit Fossil's site by accident and noticed they had a new metal version out, and I couldn't resist.

The hour is shown as a digit in its expected position, and the minutes circle around as dark LCD segments.
